Duke of York, London

About This Project

McCue is proud to have project managed the fit-out of The Duke of York in Victoria, London. Located beside the historic Victoria Palace this iconic pub was restored to its former glory, taking a journey through time to the late 1800s.

Designed by Steven Talbert, the Duke of York was designed with many of the key features you would have seen in the original pub. From the outside, the bespoke stained glass and sash windows invite you to begin your history lesson. The Lincrusta wallpaper has been placed on the ceilings, then hand-painted over and surrounded by bespoke cornice adding warmth and luxury. As you explore the pub discovering all the pictures on the walls the attention to detail is evident in this pub with the metal edging in the poured Terrazzo flooring mirroring the detail in the ceiling. Take a step into the restrooms and you will even find Victorian styled toilets, sinks, and taps highlighted with patterned tiled floors.

McCue’s bespoke joinery team loved this project due to the volume of intricate woodwork created in Mahogany throughout the building. This includes door screens for the quirky snugs, two bars, bookcases and wall, and ceiling paneling.

If you are in the area be sure to pop in for a pint and a truly unique experience crafted to the highest quality by McCue!
