Banking Fit-Out in Newry: The Santander Branch Refurbishment

McCue has completed the refurbishment of the Santander branch in Newry, delivering the internal fit-out and finishes package across both floors.

The scope

Strip-out of existing wall-mounted units, displays and signage, with walls made good. Flooring and decoration to both floors. General joinery. Minor electrical works, first and second fix. Data cabling and installation for a new media wall and tech bar. Internal graphics, signage and final clean ahead of handover.

Phasing around a live branch

The works were sequenced floor by floor rather than run as a single push, with out-of-hours working where the programme required it. Cash handling drove the middle of the programme — the de-cash date sat between the two floor phases, with branch setup and re-cash following handover before the branch reopened.

The IT package ran as its own sequence: full de-install, first fix cabling early in the ground floor phase, second fix once finishes were complete, then a dedicated commissioning day before reopening. Cabling installed after finishes means rework. Commissioning left too late means a branch that opens without working systems.

For a retail bank, the reopening date is the deliverable. Everything upstream of it exists to protect it.
