McCue delivers the fit-out of BBQ22

There’s a real momentum in Belfast’s hospitality sector at the moment, with operators continuing to invest in spaces that offer more than just great food. Increasingly, the environment itself plays a central role in shaping the customer experience, helping brands create atmosphere, comfort and a reason to return.

BBQ22 in St Anne’s Square is a strong example of this shift. Recently completed by McCue for Zen Restaurant Group, the new Korean barbecue restaurant brings a premium dining concept into the heart of the Cathedral Quarter, building on the success of neighbouring venues in the area.

Located above The Dumpling Library, the project introduced a distinctive fit-out centred around the practical and visual requirements of tableside Korean barbecue dining. The layout, seating arrangements and integrated grill stations all needed to work seamlessly within a refined interior setting, balancing durability with a high-end finish.

A key focus throughout delivery was ensuring the completed environment supported both atmosphere and operational flow. Warm material finishes, carefully planned seating zones and precise detailing all contribute to a space that feels intimate while remaining highly functional for service.

The finished venue now adds another strong hospitality destination to Belfast city centre and reflects the continued demand for experience-led restaurant environments across the market.

BBQ22 is another example of how thoughtful fit-out delivery can help bring a hospitality concept to life in a way that feels natural, practical and true to the brand.
