Rhubarb Hospitality
Rhubarb in Westfield Hamburg
Rhubarb at Westfield Überseequartier
Hamburg’s hospitality sector continues to move towards destination-led dining, where the quality of the environment is central to the guest experience. McCue’s current work within the Rhubarb scheme at Westfield Hamburg Überseequartier reflects this shift, supporting the delivery of premium hospitality interiors within one of Europe’s most significant mixed-use developments.
Across the sector, hospitality fit-out and commercial interiors are increasingly focused on blending atmosphere with operational performance. Premium venues now demand spaces that support guest flow, maximise views and create a strong sense of place, particularly within landmark city-centre developments.
The Project
McCue is currently delivering fit-out works for Rhubarb within Westfield Hamburg Überseequartier, with works taking place across the ground floor and 13th floor hospitality spaces.
The scheme combines two very different customer experiences within the same destination. The ground floor focuses on arrival, activation and front-of-house presence within the wider development, while the 13th floor creates a more elevated hospitality setting that takes advantage of panoramic views across Hamburg and the waterfront.
This is a strong example of restaurant fit-out within a major urban regeneration project, where the physical environment must respond to both operational requirements and the premium expectations of the end user.
Key elements of the scheme include bespoke joinery, feature bar and service areas, coordinated seating zones, specialist finishes and integrated front-of-house detailing. Delivering across two levels also introduces additional programme and logistics considerations, particularly around vertical access, sequencing and coordination with parallel trades.
Delivery Approach
A key priority has been maintaining consistency in quality and finish across both floors while recognising the different functional demands of each environment. Careful sequencing is supporting smooth installation, with close collaboration across client, design and site teams to ensure interfaces between joinery, finishes and specialist elements are aligned.
Working within a live mixed-use development in central Hamburg also places added emphasis on logistics planning, access management and programme certainty.
Outcome
Once complete, the scheme will contribute to a standout hospitality destination within Westfield Hamburg, combining a strong ground-floor presence with a premium upper-level dining and bar experience.
More broadly, the project reflects how bespoke joinery and hospitality interiors are increasingly being used to shape memorable destination venues within large-scale regeneration schemes. For McCue, it represents another high-quality fit-out delivered within a complex live environment.
