The Meridian Lounge at Armagh City Hotel: a full interior fit-out

The Meridian Lounge at Armagh City Hotel has been handed over. McCue delivered the full interior fit-out of the lounge, bar, private dining room and Constellation Room across three levels, from strip-out to handover.

We started on site on 27 July 2026 and handed over on 23 October 2026. The bespoke joinery that defines the space was made in our Carrickfergus workshop and fitted by our site team.

The brief

The McKeever Hotel Group wanted to reinvent one of Armagh's best-known venues inside a hotel that stayed open throughout. The design came from Drinksology (Kirker Greer), who ran a competitive tender judged on price and quality.

As principal contractor, McCue was responsible for coordinating every trade to deliver the Drinksology design pack in full.

Our scope: strip-out to handover

The refurbishment covered the ground floor lounge and bar, the mezzanine and upper mezzanine, the private dining room, the Constellation Room and the washrooms. Our scope included:

  • Strip-out of existing floor, wall and ceiling finishes and balustrades

  • Bespoke joinery, including the curved front bar, back bar, display cabinets and wall panelling

  • New metal balustrades to the stairs and mezzanine

  • Electrical and lighting works, plumbing and the new bar services

  • New floor finishes in Amtico, tile, timber and carpet, plus wall tiling and wallpaper

  • Decorative mirrors, decoration, testing, commissioning and the final clean

Bespoke joinery from our Carrickfergus workshop

The joinery sets the tone of The Meridian. Our joiners made the panelling, lift surrounds and joinery units in our 5,500 m² workshop in Carrickfergus, where McCue has been making bespoke joinery since 1954.

The curved timber bar with its illuminated back bar is the centrepiece of the room. Glazed display cabinets and rich timber panelling run through the lounge and up to the mezzanine.
