Hillsborough Castle: Craft Fit for a Royal Residence

Some projects you don't get to do twice. The royal residence in Northern Ireland is one of them.

Hillsborough Castle is a Georgian estate just outside Belfast, looked after by Historic Royal Palaces. In 2019 it reopened after a £24m transformation that gave the 100-acre site a new visitor centre, gardens and dining and retail spaces — opening the estate up to a far wider audience.

That's where McCue came in.

We manufactured and fitted the bespoke joinery for the café and the display cases in the retail area. In a setting like this, the brief is simple to say and hard to do: joinery that earns its place alongside the heritage around it, built to take daily footfall for years.

That's the work we know best. Bespoke craftsmanship, made to last, finished to a standard that holds up in front of hundreds of thousands of visitors a year.
