Workshop Quantity Surveyor

McCue is seeking a Workshop Quantity Surveyor to join our production team.

The role is to ensure the day-to-day management of the workshop costing system and provide cost control between joinery estimating and production.

JOB  DETAILS

Responsible to: Production Manager

Responsible for:

  • Cost and specification co-ordination between tender and production including purchasing.
  • Dedicated control of workshop costing system.
  • Cost control of manufactured joinery.
  • Ensuring variations are captured and costed for approval/instruction.
  • Provide timely cost information to Contracts Manager, QS and Commercial Manager.

Working hours: As required to successfully carry out the role, but generally between 8.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Thursday 4.00pm Friday.

Essential Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying or equivalent.

Desirable Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a joinery/fitout background or similar role.
  • Computer literate essential.
  • Good team player, strong commercial awareness and an excellent communicator.

KEY TASKS

  • Monitor and update costs in the workshop costing system.
  • Provide updates on workshop cost performance by project and also monthly overall costs.
  • Monitor specification changes between the production processes.
  • Liaison with other team members throughout the production process.
  • Cost reporting to Senior Management.
  • Monitoring all variations/snags requested from site.
  • Attendance at prestart meetings including advanced preparation of all information required.
  • Ensuring cost and waste control is being managed.
  • To participate and support all Company initiatives with compliance of procedures and requirements for ISO9001, 14001 & 45001, FSC and Investors in People Standards.
  • Assist with procurement schedules, cost comparisons, sampling and mock-up costs.
  • Obtaining costs from suppliers and contractors.
  • Any other duties conducive to the effective operation of the post which the Company deem to be within the post holder’s competence.
