Urban Outfitters European Headquarters, London

About This Project

If you take a walk through the iconic streets of Brick Lane in London, you will come across the remarkable Truman Building, once home to London’s largest brewery, now renowned for its regeneration into an area full of independent stores, bars and restaurants, galleries, markets and creative businesses.

One such business that has recently taken up residence in the building is URBN and their Urban Outfitters, Free People and Anthropologie brands. The business has officially moved its European Headquarters to what is now, one of London’s quirkiest districts.

URBN entrusted McCue as their fit-out partner to project manage the refurbishment and fit-out of their new 10,670m2 space. The team at McCue collaborated with URBN’s design team to maintain as much of the building’s character as possible, which included the protection of original features including the basketball court floor markings on level two and the open terrace area on level three.

Starting in the basement, McCue’s team created a variety of spaces using  ‘Douglas Fur’ plywood. These spaces included a state-of-the-art gym and a yoga room with changing facilities, an open plan café surrounded with greenery, creating a quirky, yet organic area and two specialist photo studios; including retouching and creative rooms, which were constructed as one hub.

The ground floor reception area invites visitors into a unique environment, with in-house showrooms allowing the team to trial new concepts within the grounds of their headquarters.

The additional three floors each have fitting rooms, kitchens, washrooms, storerooms, meeting rooms and open office spaces. The high calibre of McCue’s craftsmanship and specialist joiners is evident throughout the offices with the provision of 260 bespoke desks and the reclaimed sleeper meeting room table, created at McCue’s 5,500m2 workshop in Carrickfergus.
